For bottom weight and all-cottons fabrics, chain mercerizers provide the highest quality and consistent results. Caustic causes the individual yarns to shrink: when they do so while under tension in a mercerizing tenter, fibers become less tangled and more oriented— imparting strength and luster to the fabric. Washing on the tenter frame while holding desired width ‘locks’ the mercerized fabric precisely at width.
Morrison has applied its over 50 years of chain mercerizing experience to this latest system. After fabric has strong caustic added in the saturator, timing cans give the necessary reaction time before being placed on the tenter. Our new mercerizer clip is a roller, center-pull type with cast ductile iron body, stainless steel jaw pivots, cloth plates & jaw blades. This chain runs in fabricated steel rails with special replaceable wear strips above and below fabric line. The dual motor drive system components are mounted directly to the tenter rails above the fabric line away from caustic spray.
On-frame washing is via cascade type cast iron overflow weirs over cast iron suction boxes. These boxes are mounted to the inner side of the tenter and automatically adjust width when the Tenter rails are moved.
Upon exiting the frame, the stabilized fabric is washed, leveled for PH in an acid compartment, and rinsed before drying.
Optional FCS touch screen control can provide intuitive operator interface for the system. |
